Why Tallow?

Did you know that your skin is your largest organ? What you put on it directly impacts your internal health. For that reason, I think that your skin care should be safe enough to eat. So that’s why I use tallow! After all, it IS food. Perfect for searing a steak, sautéing veggies, or deep-frying potatoes! Or, you can slather it on your skin and get some serious NOURISHMENT.

Tallow is, simply put, beef fat. The most nourishing being the leaf fat that surrounds the kidneys. The beef fat is rendered slowly over low heat and the liquid tallow separates from the cracklings. Once cooled it is solid at room temperature.

I like to think of tallow as the original skincare! It was used by our ancestors for not only cooking but to calm skin ailments. Modernly, tallow was demonized and replaced with petroleum-based products, chemicals, ultra-processed industrial seed oils, and synthetic elements.

It is truly a superfood for your skin and packed full of amazing, nourishing benefits. It provides your skin with fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K. It contains Conjugate Linoleic Acid (CLA) and palmitoleic acid, essential fatty acids with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Tallow has very similar saturated fat profile to our cell membranes at about 50%, making it highly bioavailable and easily absorbed. Cool to know: sebum (the oil/wax that protects your skin), actually translates to “tallow” in Latin.

A quick search for tallow testimonials will reveal to you how it has improved thousands of folks’ skin ailments such as eczema, psoriasis, surgical scars/wounds, diaper rashes, rosacea, dry skin, dry cracked nipples from breastfeeding, sun burn, itching/burning, and so much more!

What a beautiful thing God created!
